  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cups waffle batter (prepared or homemade)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and hot sauce.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Dip chicken thighs into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture. Set aside.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry chicken thighs for 6-8 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Meanwhile, cook waffles in a preheated waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions until golden and crisp.
  7. Serve each waffle topped with a piece of crispy chicken, a pat of butter, and drizzle with maple syrup.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in buttermilk and hot sauce for 2 hours before breading. Serve with spicy honey for a delightful twist.
