Homemade cinnamon swirl banana bread fresh from oven

This cinnamon swirl banana bread is a moist and flavorful treat featuring a rich cinnamon sugar swirl, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in mashed bananas and milk until well combined.
  6. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
  7. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  8. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter.
  9. Add the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter.
  11. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Allow bread to cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter before baking.
